“We center the voices of those experiencing change. This program is for Black women principals, about Black women principals, and by Black women principals.” ~Dr. Rema
The Leading Well Principal Wellness Project is for, by, and about Black women principals recognizing and nurturing our well-being. It's time to break the silence around our wellness needs and proudly voice them in every possible way. As we embark on our third year together, our unwavering focus remains on holistic wellness.
Originating as an 11-month pilot program, we have now entered our third year, refining and expanding our offerings with each iteration. We are thrilled to have welcomed new leaders to this transformative journey to anchor themselves in wellness—a foundational principle that radiates through their personal lives and resonates within their school communities.
Our pioneering initiative has grown in scope and influence, reaching far beyond the confines of individual leadership roles. In response to the pressing need for comprehensive wellness solutions, we've introduced innovative components that extend the program's impact to students and parents alike.
Guiding new leaders toward an ethos of wellness is at the heart of the program. We firmly believe that a leader who begins with wellness as a core grounding principle can more effectively lead their school community. This program is also a conduit for ushering in a new generation of leaders who prioritize their own well-being, understanding its symbiotic relationship with their school's vitality.
What started as a transformative experience for principals has blossomed into a dynamic ecosystem. We've expanded our monthly gatherings to encompass a wider circle, inviting students and parents to join us in this holistic journey. By harmonizing our understanding of wellness, we're creating a powerful symphony—a symphony of students, parents, guardians, and teachers all living well.
The cumulative impact is profound: a school community that stands united, enveloped in a supportive wraparound of wellness. When a leader comprehends the essence of wellness, it resonates deeply not only with them but also with those they guide and nurture. Imagine a space where students, parents, and educators alike embrace the same philosophy, working collectively to foster radical healing and growth within themselves and one another.
Let's redefine what it means to lead, inspire, and flourish as Black women principals. Together, we will continue to amplify our voices, advocate for our needs, and catalyze positive transformation within ourselves and our broader educational community.
